# Delete your account

How to delete your GenToon account, what gets deleted and what stays, and what to check before you delete.

## Overview

You can delete your account yourself in **Account** › **My Account**. Your sign-in account and personal information are deleted **right away**, so you can’t undo it yourself. Please check the points below before you delete.

## Check before you delete

- **Any credits you have left are lost.** Once your account is deleted, plan, purchased, and gifted credits can’t be returned. If there’s money you could get refunded — a subscription paid in the last 7 days, unused purchased credits, or a refund for ending a yearly plan early — [contact us](https://www.gentoon.ai/en/help/support/contact-support) to ask for it **before** you delete. See [Cancellation and refunds](https://www.gentoon.ai/en/help/credits-and-billing/cancel-and-refund) for the rules.
- **Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a subscription started through the App Store or Google Play.** Be sure to cancel it in the store first. A subscription paid on the web is canceled when you delete, so you won’t be charged again.
- Download any comics you want to keep first. [Download your comic](https://www.gentoon.ai/en/help/export-and-share/download)
- After you delete your account, you can’t sign up with the same email for 30 days.

## Step by step

1. Click your profile photo in the top menu and go to **Account**.

2. Scroll down the **My Account** page and click **Delete Account**. It’s just above **Connected apps**.

3. Read the confirmation window again and confirm. When it’s done, you’re signed out and taken back to the home page.

> **Tip:** In the GenToon app, tap **Delete account** at the bottom of the **Profile** tab. If you can’t delete it yourself, email service@gentoon.ai from the address you signed up with and ask for your account to be deleted.

## What happens when you delete

| What | What happens |
| --- | --- |
| Email, name, profile photo, bio | Deleted right away |
| Sign-in account | Deleted right away — you can’t sign in again |
| Your projects, characters, and image files | Hidden right away, then permanently deleted after a set period |
| Posts and comments in the community | Your posts are taken down from the community right away, along with your projects. Comments you left on other people’s posts stay under the name **Deleted user** so conversations aren’t broken |
| Projects shared in a team workspace | Stay in the workspace so your teammates can keep using them |
| Subscription and credits | Moved to the free plan, and any credits you have left are lost |

## FAQ

**Are my community posts and comments deleted too?**

When you delete your account, your community posts are taken down right away along with your projects. Comments you left on other people’s posts stay under the name **Deleted user**, so before you delete your account, delete any comments you want gone yourself or ask service@gentoon.ai to remove them.

**I deleted my account by mistake. Can I get it back?**

You can’t restore a deleted account yourself. Your sign-in account and personal information are deleted right away. Contact service@gentoon.ai as soon as possible.

**Can I sign up again after deleting?**

You can sign up with the same email again after 30 days. The new account starts from scratch.
