# Agent chat basics

Plan and draw comics just by chatting with Zennyang in the Studio’s Agent Mode.

## Overview

**Zennyang**, the AI agent, is the partner that turns your story into a comic. Send it a story and it asks what it needs with quick cards, lays out a panel-by-panel scenario, and draws it once you press the draw button. After that, you can fix panels just by chatting.

## Where to find it

It’s the **Agent Mode** tab on the right side of the Studio, and it’s the first tab you see when the Studio opens. The **Single Panel** tab next to it is for setting up and drawing one panel yourself, without chatting. The screens and shortcuts in this article are for a computer. In a browser on a narrow screen like a phone, you chat in the message box at the bottom of the screen, and the GenToon app looks and works a little differently ([Using GenToon on the web and in the app](https://www.gentoon.ai/en/help/getting-started/web-and-app)).

## How to chat

1. Type your story or request in the message box at the bottom. A one-line idea is fine, and so is a long scene you’ve already written.

2. Press Enter or click the send button (the paper plane). To add a line break instead, press Shift + Enter.

3. To send a picture too, click the paperclip button (**Attach file**) next to the message box, or drag or paste the picture into the box.

4. To stop Zennyang mid-reply, click the stop button that replaces the send button, or press Esc.

> **Note:** The message box is locked while panels are being drawn, and opens again when drawing is done. To stop partway, click **Stop generating** in the chat. The message box also locks, with a **Not enough credits to draw this** card in the chat, when you don’t have enough credits left for one image in the mode you chose. While a scenario card is open, the notice appears on that card instead, and you can keep editing the scenario and asking questions.

## What you can ask Zennyang to do

- **Break a story into panels** — Send a story and you’ll get a scenario card with the scene, setting, and dialogue for each panel. See [Start with a story](https://www.gentoon.ai/en/help/agent/start-a-story).
- **Ask what it needs** — It asks about the world, the cast, how many panels per image, and the art style with cards. Tap a card or answer in the chat.
- **Create new characters** — If someone in your story isn’t one of your characters yet, it asks whether to create them, then makes them once you’ve chosen a description and art style. In the GenToon app, it may create them right away to fit your story, without asking.
- **Draw** — Review the scenario, click **Draw as-is**, pick Standard or Pro mode, and the panels are drawn on your canvas.
- **Fix things** — Say something like “Make the expression in panel 2 brighter,” and an edit confirmation card appears; click **Edit** and just that panel is redrawn. See [Edit panels by chatting](https://www.gentoon.ai/en/help/agent/edit-cuts-with-agent).
- **Continue and undo** — Pick up panels that weren’t finished, or go back to how a panel looked before an edit.

## What costs credits and what doesn’t

> **Tip:** In the web Studio, before drawing a scenario, drawing a new character, editing panels, or redrawing your characters in a newly chosen art style, a confirmation card shows the cost, and nothing starts until you approve it on the card. But if you ask in words to finish undrawn panels, like “Keep drawing,” or attach a photo and ask to make it a character, it can start right away without a confirmation card. In the GenToon app, creating new characters from your story and redrawing your characters in a newly chosen art style can also start right away without asking.

## Good to know

- Your chat is saved with the project. Reopen the project later and the conversation is still there.
- Once you pick an art style, a **Current art style** bar appears at the top of the chat. Click **Change** to switch.
- If you select a panel on the canvas, it’s shown in the chat, and whatever you send is treated as a request about that panel.
- Very long text can go over the length you can send at once. If it does, a notice appears under the message box, so split it into a few messages.

## FAQ

**I only chatted, but my credits went down.**

Chatting with Zennyang and planning scenarios are free; credits are only used when something is drawn: drawing or editing panels, drawing a new character or a new look, or redrawing your characters in a newly chosen art style. In the GenToon app, new characters from your story are sometimes drawn right away without asking. **Zennyang keeps chatting but won’t draw.**

Zennyang only starts drawing after you click **Draw as-is** on the scenario card and pick Standard or Pro mode. If a card in the chat (world, cast, panels per image, art style, or a new character) is still waiting for your answer, answer it first. If your credits are below the price of one image, a credit notice appears instead of the draw button. If no scenario card has appeared, try describing who’s in the story, where it happens, and what they do in a bit more detail.

**I sent the wrong message.**

Just send a correction, and Zennyang will go with it. If it’s still replying, stop it first with the stop button or Esc. Nothing is charged before anything is drawn.
