# How credits work

What credits are spent on and how much, the order plan, purchased, and gifted credits are used in, and where to check your balance.

## Overview

Credits are what you spend to draw with AI on GenToon. They’re used at the moment a picture is drawn. Planning a scenario with the agent and downloading your comics don’t use any credits. But if, during the chat, the agent draws a new character your story needs or redraws your characters in a newly chosen art style, that’s drawing too, so it uses credits. In the GenToon app, these can be drawn right away without asking.

## What costs credits

An image costs the same even when it holds several panels.

Other features, such as drawing character images or chatting one-on-one with a character, can also use credits. ## Types of credits

| Type | Where it comes from | Resets monthly? |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Plan Credits** | Included with your plan and refilled every month, even on a yearly plan — the free plan gets them too | Yes — unused credits don’t carry over to the next month |
| **Purchased Credits** | Bought as credit packs, or earned from rewards and coupons | No |
| **Gifted Credits** | Sent to you as a gift by someone else | No |

**Plan credits are always used first**, and gifted and purchased credits are used after they run out. That way, the credits that reset every month get used before the ones that don’t.

## Where to check your balance

1. Click the credit number at the bottom left of the Studio to open **My Credits**. It shows how many credits you have of each type, along with the date your plan credits refill.

2. If you’re running low, click **Buy Credits** at the bottom of that window. The **Pricing** page opens at the top — scroll down to the **Buy Credits** section to buy a credit pack. [Buy credits](https://www.gentoon.ai/en/help/credits-and-billing/buy-credits)
3. To see when you spent or received credits, go to **Account** › **Subscription** and scroll down to **Recent credit history**.

## Good to know

> **Note:** If a drawing fails or isn’t drawn because of our safety policy, you aren’t charged for that image. If credits were already taken, they’re returned automatically.

> **Tip:** When you upgrade on **Pricing**, the plan credits you had left in the current billing period aren’t lost — you keep using them on your new plan. How many credits are added depends on whether you pay monthly in Korean won, or in US dollars or yearly. [Change your plan](https://www.gentoon.ai/en/help/credits-and-billing/change-plan)

## FAQ

**When do my plan credits refill?**

Plan credits refill every month on your refill date. On a monthly plan, that’s your billing date. To see the date, click the credit number at the bottom left of the Studio to open **My Credits**. On a yearly plan you pay once a year, but credits still refill every month.

**Do unused plan credits roll over?**

Unused plan credits don’t roll over. On your refill date, your plan credits are refilled to your plan’s monthly amount, and your purchased and gifted credits stay as they are.

**My credits seem to have gone down on their own.**

Where your credits went is listed in your [credit history](https://www.gentoon.ai/en/help/credits-and-billing/credit-history). If you own a team workspace, images your teammates draw in it also use your credits. Those charges appear in the history of the teammate who drew them, not in yours. If there’s still a charge you don’t recognize, [contact us](https://www.gentoon.ai/en/help/support/contact-support) and tell us roughly when it happened.

**What happens when I run out of credits?**

With zero credits, you can’t use features that cost credits, such as drawing. Wait for your next refill or [earn free credits](https://www.gentoon.ai/en/help/credits-and-billing/free-credits). Your works stay as they are.
