Do I need a photo?▾
No. A selfie makes the character resemble you more, but a photo isn't required. Describe yourself in words · "woman in her 20s, black bob, glasses". and we'll draw a matching character. A photo just helps capture your features more closely.
Can I really make one for free?▾
Yes. Sign up and you get 150 free credits, so you can make a profile with no credit card. GenToon is credit-based, and that's plenty to generate a few versions and try it out.
How long does it take?▾
Drawing time depends on the art style and how busy the servers are at that moment. If a result feels off, you can regenerate and try again (each regeneration uses credits).
I can't draw at all · is that okay?▾
Totally fine. No drawing skill, tablet, or Photoshop needed. Upload one photo, pick a style, and AI handles the rest. GenToon exists precisely so people who can't draw can still make webtoons.

What kind of photo works best?▾
A front-facing photo where your face is large and well-lit works best. We recommend a natural-expression selfie with bright lighting and nothing covering your face. Very dark shots or ones where your face is small can be harder to capture.
