Overview

The same person can look different from scene to scene: in a school uniform, after a haircut, or as a child. A look saves one of these variations for a character. It keeps what makes them recognizable, like their face, eyes, and skin tone, and only changes the parts you choose (outfit, hair, or age).

Add a character look

Follow along as you create and save a new look, like a school uniform, short hair, or a younger age, in Character Studio.

Where to find it

In the Studio’s Create tab, click Details on a character in your list, then open Character Studio. Your saved looks are all in this window. The Base look card at the front is the character’s main picture, used when you draw them without a saved look.

Create a look

  1. Go to the Create a new look section at the bottom of the Character Studio window.

  2. Under What does this look change?, describe the new look. For example: “in a school uniform,” “with short hair,” or “as a 10-year-old.” Tap one of the suggestion chips to fill it in.

  3. Under What changes, check which of Outfit, Hair, and Age will change. They’re picked automatically from your description, and you can tap to adjust them.

  4. Give it an easy-to-spot name in Name, like “School uniform.” If you have a photo of the outfit or hairstyle, you can upload it as a reference. The face in it is never copied.

  5. Click Create, then Yes, create it in the confirmation. Each look costs 13 credits.

Use a look in a panel

  • Agent Mode — When a character with looks is in the scene, a picker above the scenario card lets you choose which look they appear in. You can also just say it in the chat, like “Harin in her school uniform.”
  • Single Panel — After you choose a character, a look picker appears below them.
  • If you don’t choose, your preferred look is selected if you’ve set one; otherwise it’s the Base look. If you’ve picked an art style, the first time you draw a look in that style, a version of the look is made for that style first. This costs an extra 13 credits per character, without asking. Drawing the same look in the same style again doesn’t cost anything extra, and looks with a green dot in the look picker are already prepared in the current art style. If you don’t have enough credits to make it, the panel may be drawn without the chosen look or without the art style.

Manage looks

  • Preferred look — Click the star button (Set as preferred) in the top-right corner of a look’s card. The look gets a Preferred tag and is selected first in the look picker. On a computer, hover over the card to see the star. Clicking the star on another look moves the tag there. This is different from the base look.
  • Delete — Click the delete icon (Delete) in the same corner and confirm. Deleted looks don’t go to the Trash; they’re gone right away, and the credits used to make them aren’t returned.
  • How many — You can save up to 12 looks per character.

Save a look from an edited panel

If you used the Edit button in the panel tools on a panel with one character to change their outfit, hairstyle, or age, you may be asked whether to save it as one of that character’s looks. Give it a name and click the save button, and a new look picture of the character is made with the same change and saved (13 credits). It isn’t a copy of the edited panel. After that, pick this look in the look picker to draw them that way. To skip it, click Later. You won’t be asked again for the same character until you reopen the Studio, so to save it later, create it in Character Studio.

FAQ

I made a look, but the face changed.
Looks are drawn to keep the face, eyes, and skin tone, but every drawing can turn out a little differently. If you don’t like it, delete that look and make it again with a more specific description of what should change. Making it again costs 13 credits, and the credits for the deleted look aren’t returned.
Can I make two looks with the same name?
Two looks with different descriptions can’t share a name, so give the new look a different name.
How is a look different from an art style?
A look changes the character’s outfit, hair, or age. An art style changes how everything is drawn. See Choose an art style.
