Start with a story
Send a story, then pick the world, cast, panels per image, and art style on Zennyang’s cards to build your scenario.

Overview
When you send a story, Zennyang doesn’t start drawing right away. It first settles what it needs. If something’s undecided, it asks with one card at a time, and once everything is set, it shows you the scenario card. Cards only appear when they’re needed, and you won’t be asked about things that are already decided.
- Choose a world
- Choose the cast (including creating new characters)
- Choose how many panels go on each image
- Choose an art style
- Review the scenario card
Send your story
Type your story in the message box in the Agent Mode tab on the right side of the Studio. It helps to say who’s in it, where it happens, and what happens.
If you want a specific number of panels, include it, like “4 panels.” Zennyang plans the scenario to match.
Send it with the send button or Enter.
The world card
If you have at least one world and this project isn’t linked to a world yet, the Which world should this story be set in? card appears. Even if you never made one, drawing while you have no worlds creates the My world world automatically. Choose a world and the story is built on that world’s setting, characters, and relationships.
- Pick a world and click Use this world. This project is then linked to that world.
- For a quick standalone story, click Continue without a world.
Learn more about worlds in Create a world.
The cast card
On the Which characters should appear? card, pick which of your characters will be in the story. If this project uses a world, only that world’s characters are listed (or all of yours, if the world has none). You can choose several. If you pick more than can fit in one panel, they’re spread across the panels.
Tap the characters you want to include.
Click the button to continue with the characters you picked. If none of your characters fit, choose to create a new character instead.
Answer the follow-up question with Yes or No.
The new character card
If your story names someone who isn’t one of your characters, a card asks whether to create them. Zennyang doesn’t guess what someone looks like from their name. The character is only drawn after you’ve given a description, chosen an art style, and pressed the draw button. This card is only in the web Studio. In the app, when your story names someone new, Zennyang creates that character right away to fit the story, and each one costs 13 credits.
Click Yes to create the character. To skip them, click No. If you skip everyone, a Continue without new characters button appears; click it to keep going.
Choose Describe it myself to write the description yourself, or Let Zennyang write it to get a draft. The draft is free, and you can edit it.
In Character description, include gender, age, appearance and distinctive features, and clothing, then click Choose an art style.
Choose an art style. To see more styles, click Browse all styles.
Click the draw button, which shows the credit cost, to draw the character. Each character costs 13 credits. When it’s drawn, click Continue with these characters on the character card in the chat to move on.
The panels-per-image card
On the How many panels per image? card, choose how many panels to put in each image. Since credits are charged per image, fitting several panels into one image lets you tell a longer story for the same credits.
| Option | How it’s drawn |
|---|---|
| 1 panel per image | One scene, big and bold |
| Several panels per image | 3–4 panels in one image, like a comic page |
| Auto | Mix single- and multi-panel layouts from scene to scene |
You can change this any time later just by asking in the chat. To set the exact panel shapes on a page yourself, see Split a page into panels.
The art style card
- Pick a style on the Which art style would you like? card, and you’ll be asked to confirm. Click Draw in this style to lock it in.
- To keep drawing in the style your characters were created in, pick the first tile, Your character's default style.
- To use the style of a picture you have, open the My style tab on the card and upload it with Upload (or Add New Style if you’ve already uploaded one). Only the way it’s drawn is used, not the people in it.
Next: the scenario card
Once everything’s set, the “Scenario ready” card appears. Check the scene, setting, and dialogue for each panel, click Draw as-is, and pick Standard or Pro mode to draw. See Read and edit the scenario card.
