Redeem a coupon
How to redeem a plan pass or credit coupon code, and how each type of coupon applies and ends.
Payment-related details here are provided for information only.
Overview
Redeem coupon codes from events or partners under Coupons & Vouchers in Account › Subscription. There are two main kinds of coupons.
| Coupon type | When you redeem it |
|---|---|
| Plan pass | If you’re on the free plan or your subscription has ended, you use that plan for a set period starting when you redeem it, and you get that plan’s plan credits. If you’re already on a paid plan, your plan doesn’t change and only your access period is extended |
| Credit coupon | Credits are added straight to your Purchased Credits |
Where to find it
The Open Coupon Box button is on the Coupons & Vouchers card in Account › Subscription. In the Android app, use the Redeem a coupon section on the Profile › Subscription screen. Coupons can’t be redeemed in the iPhone and iPad app.
Step by step
In Account › Subscription, click Open Coupon Box to open the code field.
Enter your coupon code. Upper- and lowercase letters are treated the same.
Click Apply and the result appears as a card. A plan pass shows its end date and the time added; a credit coupon shows the credits you received.
How plan passes work
- If you’re on the free plan or your subscription has ended, the pass period starts when you redeem it and you get that plan’s plan credits.
- If you’re already on a paid plan, your plan and credits stay the same and only your access period is extended. Your plan doesn’t change even if the pass is for a higher plan. Subscriptions paid in US dollars or through the App Store or Google Play are still charged on their usual billing dates during this time.
- A pass in progress appears on the Coupons & Vouchers card with the date the benefit ends.
- When the pass ends, you return to where you were before: to your previous paid plan if you had one, or to the free plan if not. Any plan credits you have left are replaced with the plan credits of the plan you return to, and your Purchased Credits and Gifted Credits stay as they are.
If the code doesn’t work
- Check the code for typos. Spaces and upper- or lowercase letters don’t affect the result.
- Each coupon has its own valid period and number of uses. Expired coupons, coupons you’ve already used, and coupons that have run out can’t be redeemed.
- Some coupons have conditions, such as being valid only before your first payment. An education pass can’t be redeemed while you’re on a different paid plan, so redeem it after your current plan ends. Check the message on screen.
