Overview

You can change your plan at any time. Upgrades take effect right away, and downgrades take effect on your next billing date. What you’re charged when you upgrade depends on whether you pay in Korean won (₩) or US dollars (US$), and on whether your plan is monthly or yearly.

Where to find it

Click Change Plan in Account › Subscription, or go straight to the Pricing page. The page opens with the Yearly tab selected. On the tab for your current billing cycle (Monthly if you pay monthly), your current plan is marked Current Plan.

Change Plan in Subscription

Upgrading

  1. The Pricing page opens with the Yearly tab selected. You can only change plans on the tab for your current billing cycle, so if you pay monthly, select Monthly first. Then click the button on a higher plan.

  2. If a confirmation window appears, review it, then complete the payment on Pricing. If you pay in dollars or have a yearly plan paid in won, the window shows the amount you’ll be charged now and the credits you’ll get, and the charge goes to your saved payment method right away. On a monthly plan paid in won, no window shows the amount: if you have plan credits left, a window first tells you how many carry over, and once you register your card in the card window that opens next, the monthly price shown on the plan’s card is charged right away.

  3. Once the payment on Pricing goes through, your new plan applies right away. Check your plan and next billing date in Subscription.

If you’re on a monthly plan paid in Korean won

  • You’re charged the full monthly price of the new plan, and a new billing period starts today.
  • Your remaining plan credits carry over to the new plan. For this billing period you can use the new plan’s credits plus what you had left, and from your next billing date you’ll get the new plan’s monthly amount.
  • If you had a downgrade or cancellation scheduled, upgrading removes it.

If you pay in US dollars

  • The difference for the days left in this billing period is charged to your saved payment method right away. Tax may be added depending on where you live.
  • If the charge doesn’t go through, your plan stays the same and you aren’t charged. Your bank may require extra verification, so check your payment method and try again.
  • You don’t get the new plan’s full monthly credits at once. Your plan credits go up by the difference between the two plans’ monthly credits, prorated for the days left in this billing period (this month, on a yearly plan). The confirmation window shows the credits you’ll have.
  • Your next billing date stays the same, and the new plan’s price is charged from that date.

Downgrading

  1. On the Pricing page, select Monthly first if you pay monthly, then click the button on a lower plan. On a tab that doesn’t match your billing cycle, other plans’ buttons are locked.

  2. In the confirmation window on Pricing, check the date it will take effect, then schedule it. Nothing is charged now.

  3. You keep your current plan’s benefits until that date. The plan card on Pricing shows Downgrade Scheduled, and you can cancel the scheduled change at any time before then.

Switching between monthly and yearly

Use the Monthly / Yearly switch at the top of the Pricing page, then schedule the switch on your current plan’s card. The new cycle starts on your next billing date, and your current cycle stays as it is until then. You can undo it with Cancel switch. While a cycle switch is scheduled, you can’t upgrade or downgrade — to change plans, undo the switch with Cancel switch first. For yearly plans, see Yearly plans.

FAQ

I upgraded, but my plan didn’t change.
Your plan only changes once the payment goes through. For dollar payments, your plan doesn’t change unless the difference is charged. Check Billing History and Subscription after a little while, and if you were charged but the change didn’t apply, contact us.
Do I get money back for the rest of my old period when I upgrade?
You don’t get money back for the rest of your old period when you upgrade. On a monthly plan paid in won, a new billing period starts on the day you upgrade, and your remaining plan credits carry over to the new plan.
Can I change plans while a cancellation is scheduled?
If you pay monthly in won or pay in dollars, you can upgrade while a cancellation is scheduled, and upgrading removes it so your plan keeps renewing. On a yearly plan paid in won, you can’t upgrade while a cancellation is scheduled — click Keep subscription first, then upgrade on Pricing. If you pay in dollars and try to downgrade, you’ll see a message that it can’t go through because of the scheduled cancellation, so click Keep subscription first here too. If you pay in won, scheduling a downgrade removes the scheduled cancellation, and the lower plan’s price is charged on your next billing date (for yearly plans, when the year ends).
