Where to find it

Open a project in the Studio and look for the Download button in the toolbar at the top of the screen. The Publish button for posting to the community sits right next to it.

The Studio toolbar — click Download here.

Step by step

  1. Open the project you want to save in the Studio and click Download. When the window opens, every page is already selected.

  2. Under File Format, pick PNG, JPG, or WebP. If you’re not sure, choose PNG for the best quality, or JPG for smaller files.

  3. Under Page Selection, choose the pages to save. Use this when you only want part of the comic.

  4. Under Save as, choose One per panel, Joined, or Custom. The table below explains the difference.

  5. Check the preview to see how many images you’ll get and what each one looks like. Every image shows its position and its size in pixels.

  6. Click the save button at the bottom to save the files to your device. The button shows how many images will be saved.

Choosing a layout

LayoutWhat you getGood for
One per panelOne image for each panelPosting panels one by one, like an Instagram carousel (when your panels are 4:5 or 1:1)
JoinedOne long image with every panel joined top to bottomReading by scrolling down, like a webtoon
CustomPages laid out the way you set them: columns, rows, spacing, background, and moreFour-panel strips, A4 printouts, Instagram 4:5 posts

Building your own layout with Custom

When you choose Custom, you can set each of the options below. The preview updates every time you change something.

  • Quick picks — pick a common layout in one click, such as Vertical webtoon, 2×2, Instagram 4:5, or A4 document.
  • Columns and Rows — how many panels go across and down on each image. If you set the rows, any extra panels move to the next image.
  • Space between panels and Outer margin — the spacing between panels and around the edge.
  • Background — the color behind the spacing.
  • Page shape — the width-to-height shape of each page.
  • Reading order — to read right to left like Japanese manga, choose Right to left (manga).
Custom opened — change the columns, rows, or spacing and the preview on the left updates right away.

Good to know

Saving from the app

The Studio in the GenToon app offers the same three layouts. In the app, Joined is selected by default, and saved images go to your photo library. If your plan includes a watermark, it’s added when you save, even though the app preview doesn’t show it.

FAQ

Does downloading use credits?
Downloading doesn’t use credits. You can save the same comic as many times as you like.
How do I download without a watermark?
On the Pro plan and above, images are saved without a watermark. Change your plan on the Pricing page (Change your plan), then download the same comic again to get a clean copy. Files you already saved don’t change.
What’s the best way to get images sized for Instagram?
For a carousel, choose One per panel. Note that One per panel saves each panel in your canvas shape, so 2:3 and 9:16 panels get cropped at the top and bottom in the Instagram feed. In that case, choose Custom and set Columns to 1, Rows to 1, and Page shape to 4:5 to get one uncropped 4:5 image per panel. The leftover space is filled with your Background color. To fit several panels in one post, choose Custom and then Instagram 4:5.
Which settings should I use for printing?
Choose Custom, pick A4 document, and save as PNG for the best quality.
