Using GenToon on the web and in the app
Keep making comics with the same account on the web and in the iOS and Android apps.
Payment-related details here are provided for information only.
Overview
You can use GenToon in a web browser on your computer and in the iOS and Android apps. Sign in with the same account, and a comic you started on the web is waiting for you in the app, and anything you make in the app can be polished on the web. A few features are web-only, though. For example, the SNS Auto tab, where you post your comics to Instagram and Threads, is only on the left side of the Studio on the web.
What’s shared across your account
- Your projects (the comics you’ve made)
- Your characters, their looks, and your worlds
- Your credit balance and plan benefits
- Your Community profile and published posts
Getting the app
On your phone, open the Get the GenToon app page and tap the App Store (iPhone and iPad) or Google Play (Android) button to install it.
If you’ve opened the GenToon website in your phone’s browser, you can also tap Download on the banner at the bottom of the screen.
Open the app and sign in the same way you do on the web.
Web vs. app
| Feature | Web | App |
|---|---|---|
| Make comics by chatting with the agent | The Agent Mode tab on the right side of the Studio | The + button in the middle of the tab bar (if you have projects, your most recent one opens; start a new comic with the NEW button at the top of the Studio) |
| Review the scenario, then choose Standard or Pro mode | Yes | Yes |
| Character Studio (creating looks) | Yes | Yes |
| Panel layout (splitting a page into panels yourself) | With the Agent Mode tab open, the panel tools on an empty, not-yet-drawn page | The scissors button in the message box |
| Changing just the words in a drawn panel’s speech bubbles (Fix text button, no credits) | Yes, on a computer | Not available. Instead, tell the agent the new line and it redraws that panel (costs the price of one image) |
| Downloads (one panel at a time, joined, or custom) | Yes | Yes |
Credits you buy in the app go to the same account, so you can use them on the web too.
- Buying credits: on the web, use the Pricing page. In the app, use in-app purchase (Credits).
- Signing up for a membership: only on the Pricing page on the web, not in the app. Your benefits apply in the app as well.
